Do I need an appointment to get my watch fixed?

No appointment is necessary! We accept walk-ins all day. Most common services like battery replacements, watch band sizing, and basic band installations are completed while you wait.

Where exactly are you located inside the Independence Center?

We are conveniently located inside the Independence Center Mall in Independence, MO.

Watch Battery & Repair Services

How much does it cost to replace a watch battery?

Our battery replacements start at just $10. We use premium, Swiss-made Renata batteries—the industry standard for luxury timepieces—ensuring long-lasting reliability. The vast majority of replacements are done while you wait in under 5 minutes.

Do you repair cracked watch screens or glass crystals?

Yes. If you have shattered or deeply scratched the glass (crystal) on your watch, we can replace it. We offer both standard mineral glass and highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal upgrades. Because crystal replacement requires precision pressing and sealing, we provide custom quotes based on your specific watch brand and size.

My metal watch band is dirty and causing skin irritation. Can you clean it?

Absolutely. We highly recommend our Deep Ultrasonic Cleaning Service (an additional $25 when paired with a battery change). Metal links trap years of sweat, dead skin, and bacteria. Our ultrasonic wash strips away decades of hidden grime and restores your band to a factory shine.

Do you test watches for water resistance?

We ensure that your internal gaskets are seated properly when we close your case back to protect against everyday dust and moisture. However, we do not currently perform pressurized deep-water resistance testing. If you are a professional diver, we recommend sending the watch to the manufacturer for pressure certification after any repair.

Do you replace batteries for solar and kinetic watches?

Yes! Solar and kinetic watches use capacitors to store energy. We offer specialized capacitor replacement. We will inspect your watch, order the exact manufacturer capacitor for your model, install it, and properly charge/test it for 72 hours before returning it to you.

Do you fix vintage or mechanical watches?

Our primary expertise is in quartz (battery-powered) watch servicing, crystal replacement, and band restoration. Because mechanical and vintage automatics require full horological movement overhauls, we do not currently service internal mechanical movements. We can, however, replace their bands and polish their cases.

Watch Bands & Sizing

Can you remove links from my watch to make it fit?

Yes. If you purchased a watch online or received one as a gift and it is too loose, bring it to our Independence Center store. We provide professional link removal and sizing while you wait, using professional pin-pushers to ensure your band is sized perfectly without scratching the finish.

Can you fix a cracked Apple Watch screen?

No, we do not perform digital screen repairs for Apple Watches or Smartwatches. We specialize in the hardware and aesthetics—meaning we have a massive selection of premium leather, metal, and silicone upgrade bands for your Apple Watch, but we do not repair the digital electronics.

If I buy a watch band from you, will you install it?

Always. If you visit our store and purchase a leather, metal, or silicone band from us, installation and sizing are completely free and done immediately while you wait.

Premium Leather Goods

What is the difference between Full-Grain Leather and Genuine Leather?

"Genuine Leather" is actually an industry marketing term for the lowest quality, heavily processed bottom layers of a hide—it cracks and peels quickly. Full-Grain Leather, which is all we use at NINE, is the top, strongest layer of the hide. It retains the natural grain, is incredibly durable, and develops a beautiful, rich patina over time.

How long does custom leather personalization take?

If you are purchasing a wallet, bag, or accessory in-store, we can often perform custom laser engraving or cold-stamping on the same day, sometimes even while you wait or shop in the mall. For larger corporate gifting orders, turnaround times vary, but we always strive for speed without compromising quality.

Are your wallets RFID blocking?

Our classic handmade models are crafted from pure 100% full-grain leather, meaning they do not naturally block RFID. However, our mechanical Pop-Up Card Wallets feature an aluminum core that is fully RFID blocking. We can also add RFID protection to almost any custom wallet upon request.

Warranties & Mail-In Services

What is your warranty on leather goods?

We offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty on all unlined leather goods. These are built to last a lifetime. For items that feature fabric liners or complex machine stitching, we provide a robust One-Year Warranty against manufacturing defects.

What is your warranty on watch repairs?

We stand behind our work. We offer a 1-Year Warranty on all new battery installations and a 7-Day Warranty on quartz repairs. If we adjust your watch band and it still doesn't feel right, bring it back within 7 days with your receipt, and we will readjust it for free.

I don't live in Kansas City. Can I mail my watch to you?

Yes. We offer a secure Mail-In Watch Repair service for customers across the United States. Simply fill out the form on our Mail-In Repair page, securely package your timepiece, and send it to our workshop. We will send you a free estimate via email and complete the repair only after you approve the cost.
