Unlike standard quartz watches, solar and kinetic timepieces do not use traditional disposable batteries. They rely on complex rechargeable lithium-ion cells (capacitors) to store energy. Over time (usually 10 to 15 years), these cells lose their ability to hold a charge. You likely need a capacitor replacement if you notice:

• The Two-Second Tick: The second hand jumps in two-second intervals (a built-in low power warning).
• Rapid Death: The watch runs perfectly after being in the sun or worn, but stops completely overnight.
• No Movement: The watch remains completely dead, even after days of direct sunlight exposure.
